About
At Fastidium, we write about television, movies, politics, and popular culture. Our commentary is primarily focused on the U.S. entertainment media but sometimes we hit on topics that extend beyond the United States.

We love dramas, science fiction, comedies, and sports. We don’t spend a lot of time with reality shows because, although they are an interesting genre, they don’t really entertain us like well made “unreality” shows. We leave reality to the real world.
We write about pop culture, we discuss things that are considered “political” in everyday conservation, and our favorite topics are those that get talked about around the water cooler. Our subject matter is broad and wide; sometimes its the gossip that we all share about a celebrity or sports figure and sometimes its about how those things like gossip effect how we see ourselves as people.
Often times, cultural criticism is an academic exercise. At Fastidium, we think that everyone ought to be doing it. We think that the average Joe and Jane ought to have a certain reflexivity to what the media tells them, about how they are entertained, and about how they live their lives in light of those things. We ought to make decisions and live our lives while thinking about the various viewpoints and messages that influence us and there is nothing bigger in that regard than what’s on television or in movie theaters.
About the Author

The author of Fastidium is Doug Whitehead. Trained as a philosopher, Doug is currently doing freelance writing in hopes of one day paying the bills. A life-time fan and collector of comic books, movies, and pop culture, Doug’s favorite television show of all time is The Powers of Matthew Star (bet you don’t remember that one, do you?). He can be found playing with his Flash action figures in his office most days of the week.
