Arsenal 5-0 FC Porto

There were segments in the first half and a long period of the second half – the first 15 minutes – where it looked questionable whether Arsenal could pull out this win and advance to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. But, after going two goals down, Porto would succumb to the magic of[.....]

USA captain Landon Donovan set to return to LA Galaxy from Everton

Landon says he doesn’t want to return. Bruce Arena says he wants him back right away. Everton want him to stay as long as they can have him. What will be a complete waste is if Landon returns only to find the MLS player’s union deciding to strike. Donovan took a chance on making everyone[.....]

Arsenal 3-1 Burnley, The Theo Walcott Show

We’re playing the rest of the season for Aaron Ramsey. Its such a stroke of bad luck to lose the young Welshman at this point in the season, but this tragedy-turned-motivation may just be the extra push to get us some hardware. Its all about character and how much you want it at this stage.[.....]

Chelsea Defender Ashley Cole Out For Three Months

Chelsea Defender Ashley Cole is sidelined for 3 months, thanks to a tackle by none other than our very own Landon Donovan. I’m almost giddy about it. Remember the nickname that Steven Cohen, Chelsea supporter extraordinaire, came up with for Donovan. It was “Landycakes” and it was supposed to show how soft Landon was. Who’s[.....]

Well, now I dislike Sampson less … Breaking more than a decade of silence, former U.S. soccer coach Steve Sampson said Tuesday he dropped John Harkes from the national team roster two months before the 1998 World Cup because the American captain was having an affair with the wife of teammate Eric Wynalda. Its honorable[.....]

U.S. fans being priced out of World Cup trip

Travel to South Africa, as exotic as it may sound, has turned out to be prohibitively expensive. Flights from New York to Johannesburg — where most games, including the final, will be played — would normally cost about $1,000, but they will set you back at least $2,500 if travelling during the World Cup.

Wenger on Strikers

Arsenal.com published an interesting article (by Richard Clarke) this morning on Why Wenger won’t rely on strikers for goals. Due to injuries to Robin Van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner, our goals have had to come from elsewhere. The stats are given that over half are coming from midfield and the centre backs (Cesc Fabregas 10,[.....]

Dempsey Injury Update

Good news from Fulham FC, “… early indications are positive in that no operation is required. At this stage it is thought that the injury will not prevent him from featuring for Fulham, prior to the end of the season.”

Arsenal 2-0 Bolton

Arsenal swept to a 2-0 victory over Bolton in Owen Coyle’s first match as Wanderers manager. He should be proud of their fighting spirit however as they had plenty of chances to overcome the Gunners. It will remain to be seen whether he’s just swapped one relegation battle (Burnley) for another. Cesc Fabregas and Tomas[.....]
