Scoring the Simpsons, A Legendary Samurai, and Vigo Mortensen

The Simpsons begins its 19th season on Sunday, September 23rd. NPR has done a great expose on Composer Alf Clausen, the man behind the hilarious parody music on the show. Just released is a new CD compiling 41 of the program’s greatest hits from seasons 10 to 18, The Simpsons: Testify.

“ They were men of history and legend. Feared for their skill, respected for their honor. But only one was a sword saint. Journey to the past to unlock the secrets of the legendary samurai known as Takezo Kensei. ”
Check out the history behind Hiro’s legacy on the show Heroes.

Vigo Mortensen is contemplating whether he should return as Aragorn in the upcoming Hobbit film (for those two people that don’t know, The Hobbit is J.R.R. Tolkien’s prequel to The Lord of the Rings trilogy). I, for one, hope that he doesn’t simply because I don’t think he did a very good job of it in the LOTR films. He was the one major casting error on the part of the film makers. Come on, people, Aragorn is supposed to be part-elf. Vigo looks half-dwarf.

Led Zeppelin are going on a reunion tour. Now, if we can just get their albums on iTunes, that would be swell.
