Friday Wrap Up 08.10.2007

I thought I’d start a weekly series of television wrap-ups for episodes of our favorite shows that aired through out the week. I’ll have some things to say about the shows and links to other (usually, more lengthy) reviews of episodes.

Eureka

Duck Duck Goose (air date: 2007-08-07)
Taggert is back and he has a one of those “I can’t believe he just did that” scenes where he snaps the neck of a goose (a robot goose, that is). Zoe is establishing herself as a more prominent figure on this show and this is a good thing. We find out that she’s got a tremendous IQ. [TVSquad Review]

Damages

Pilot
Jesus, Mary and Joe Cocker(air date: 2007-08-02)
And My Paralyzing Fear of Death (air date: 2007-08-07)
Glenn Close’s new drama on the FX Network has to be the sleeper of the summer. If you’re not watching it, go download the pilot at the iTunes Store (it was free, now only $1.99). If you don’t want to see the other two episodes after that, well … ok, but I have them both on my DVR and can’t wait to see them. I can’t do a review here so I’ll just link to others who have seen them. I have a Damages post coming real soon.

Televisionary has some excellent stuff about the show:Pawns and Players: “Damages” Casts a Dangerous Spell, Patty’s Paralyzing Fear of Death on “Damages”. And also there’s the Review of Damages at NY Post.

The Company

Night One (air date: 2007-10-05)
The Company, on TNT, is about the beginnings of the cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States. It gives a real life look at what is was like to be on both sides. The site allows you to watch entire episodes after they’ve aired. I wouldn’t call this a must-see show but if you like history or spy stuff, this is quite interesting. You never really know who’s on who’s side.

Flash Gordon

pilot (air date: 2007-08-10) How can I not resist a new super hero show? I’ll write up my review after I see the show. I’ve stayed away from reading anything about it because I want to see it “on my own” (so to speak).
